A pair of hand scrapers made from premium, high carbon Swedish Tool Steel, 62 x 150mm(2.1/2" x 6"). The set includes one scraper blade 0.5mm (.020" x 6"), which makes for a very supple scraper, and one 0.8mm (.032") thick, which is much stiffer. These blades are accurately ground square on the long edges, are easy to use, very handy and, once correctly burnished leave behind an excellent surface on the timber. Hardened to HRC 49-51.

About Lie Nielsen cabinet scrapersI'm not at all sure about these scrapers. After my old set of Veritas scrapers was well and truly worn out, I thought I would treat myself to some Lie Nielsen class. They might be good enough scrapers, but some of the edges were slightly rolled over from the cutting process. And after the usual preparations and raising of burrs, I had the feeling that the sharpness of the edges wore out faster than with my old Veritas scrapers. And there is a bit more stiffness in them, so harder to create that slight curve which you need for a nice shave cut. These impressions might be a tad subjective, we all have our favorite tools. But if I would buy scrapers again, I would go back to the Veritas ones. Two stars might be a bit low for their actual quality, and they reflect my disappointment that something with the Nielsen name on it is actually not as amazing as expected.

A very nice set of scrapers. Immediately excellent results.I had seen some people's results with such scrapers and often they got such a mirror smooth finish sanding was not or hardly necessary. I decided I'd try them myself. And what splendid little tools they are. Already at my first go with them I had excellent results. A very, very smooth finish. A quality product and definitely a highly recommended addition to anyone's finishing tool collection. Using the LN burnisher it's really very easy to get a burr on it.

Brilliant toolI first used cabinet scrapers many years ago on a woodworking course. Since then I have not owned any, but finally took the plunge and picked up this Lie-Nielsen set. They have already proven to be invaluable in cleaning up the wooden parts round my staircase. I have used them on the large upright and handrail. They do a similar job to sanding BUT leave a much nicer finish, and are more controlled and better at working on edges or places that are harder to each. They have been the only tool I had that could get into some of the very tight spaces to remove the finish from the handrail back to bare wood. Both sizes are useful and effective. You do of course need a burnisher to put an edge on them, I also bought the Lie-Nielsen burnisher and have had brilliant results considering it is my first time using one!
