Compact router trimmer that combines one motor with different bases. This machine is great for a host of small routing and trimming tasks in the workshop or on site. The motor is fitted with variable speed control and has soft start. It can be quickly interchanged and locked into the required base. This kit comes complete with 3 bases; trimming, plunge and bevel base.
Plunge base turns the machine into a plunge router with 2 solid grip handles, a height adjuster with fine adjustment and a stepped turret for repetitive depth setting. The side fence fits left or right and has a 130mm reach from centre, however, you may wish to add a wooden sub fence which would reduce this. Dust extraction outlet is also supplied with a 35mm outlet. Easy to control suitable for decorative edge working as well as small mortices and grooves. Trimming base this small 90mm round base turns the machine into a trimmer for single handed use. Use with or without the height adjustable bearing guide for cutters without bearings, rolling on the curve for a fine cut. A 10mm template guide is supplied to fit this and the side fence can also be used for straight work. The dust guard has a 35mm outlet to attach an extractor hose if required. Bevel base a small square 90mm base that can tilt and be locked at a required angle (45°-0°-30°), allows for more scope when profiling and jointing.
The machine is also supplied with a 1/4" collet and will accept a 3/8" collet (not supplied), 16mm & 10mm template guides, plunge base side fence, side grip handle (can replace right plunge base handle), 2 dust extraction shrouds, 13 and 22mm wrenches and tool bag.

Let down by assembly quality controlAfter reading many reviews on Palm &is all routers I took a close inspection at a trade stand. The motor unit appears very robust. The obvous flaw in assembly visible on every single model on display is the plunge spindle lock for changing cutters. It plunges no more than 1.5mm into the shaft of the motor and with wear will quickly rendering the quick change system reliant on a two spanner operation. If you care to look on other websites this is a commonly reported fault. The plunge pin has a small collet on it and is clearly designed to plunge further. However it cannot as the push button will not depress further. The fence system is poor. The new Bosh mini 12 volt battery looks interesting for trimming but in my opinion the midi Dewalt router, slightly larger than a palm router offers an altogether more robust and versatile tool. Good luck with your researches.

Excellent bit of kitTypical Makita quality (in my experience). Haven't tried the tilt base yet but the fixed and plunge bases are very nice to use, especially the fixed. Plunge capacity is a little small but understandable for an interchangeable base. Overall, very pleased.

Ideal for adding quick embelishmentsSo pleased with this trimmer / router. Easy to use, well balanced and good value for money. Handy to have around the workshop and saves using the more heavy duty router or router table for small projects. Should have had one years ago.
