In Detail

Abranet® is a revolutionary abrasive material offering dust free sanding with no clogging. The open mesh design features thousands of tiny holes which will make sure that when used with suitable extraction the passage of dust will be incredibly efficient. Because Abranet® abrasive keeps the surface that you are sanding dust free, this results in a very uniform scratch pattern leaving an ultra smooth finish. It is incredibly durable and will last twice as long as many conventional abrasives making it very cost effective. These hook and loop backed discs are suitable for a wide range of materials including the decorating, woodworking and automotive industries.

Great discs - but destroy velcro sander bases.

They ruin the sander bases.
We have had 2 Makitas with extraction running these discs, both had new velcro bases that arrived with our first box of Abranet discs. Both bases have failed and the discs no longer stick, we have proably used about 35 discs.
Dont get me wrong they sand well and last longer than normal discs but we will go back to Bosch discs as we only change the bases every couple of months.
This experiment in using these discs has cost me around £90.

Excellent dust free sanding

Decided to buy a pack of 80 grit to try them out. Recently inherited a shed full of really old timber (some over 200 years old) so decided to go for broke and selected some really filthy nondescript pieces that could have been anything and hit them with my Bosch GEX 125-1AE 125mm without bothering to clean the surfaces.

What can I say? Airborne dust was more or less non existent, cut through the dirt and old varnish/stains/oil/whatever in no time. Only required a few minutes with a standard 400 grit disc afterwards, Danish oil & Shellac and what was nearly thrown into a firewood pile has turned out to be some really nice figured shelves in my kitchen.

Still using the first disc I attached with no sign of wear and no noticeable decrease in velcro strength. Will definitely be picking up the higher grit on my next purchase.

See my review of the hand sanding block! As a combination it is simply amazing for longevity and dust free sanding

First rate product.

This is an excellent product. I am using it to finish a violin before varnishing so the finish needs to be perfect. This gives a finish that I doubt could be achieved as easily with sandpaper or even a scraper.
Well worth the money. Highly recommended.

Less than impressed

Very dissapointed with these discs. Sure the sanding action is good as is extraction.
These are meant to last a long time but the problem is the side that attaches to the velcro does not last as long as the sanding side.
I managed 30 mins of sanding before the disc fell off the sander. My normal discs attach well to the velcro base but these just will not stick.
