Description

In Detail

The MBS 240/E has a solid, ribbed die-cast aluminium housing and features double ball bearing aluminium pulleys. Its sturdy, machined table with slot for mitre gauge measures a generous 200 x 200mm. The table tilts through 45° for accurate mitre sawing. The machine is powered by a low noise 230 Volt motor (high quality, for quiet, prolonged use) with toothed belt drive. The speed is controlled electronically for exceptionally accurate cutting. A clear table indicates the recommended speed for most materials. The blade size (5.0 x 0.4 mm) is ideal for fine work, allowing cutting of small radii. Standard equipment includes one 1,065 x 5.0 x 0.4 mm (14tpi) band saw blade. A diamond blade is available for cutting glass and ceramics.

Poor product and not as described

overall a disappointment. The table is not 200 x 200 as described... it is smaller. The underside of the table has a number of razor sharp burrs resulting in cut fingers... beware. The manual is incorrect in that the table adjustment has a 'washer'... no washer is supplied, but if you assemble it as per the instructions you will crush the pointer that shows the angle of the table... which is invisible anyway once the securing bolt is tightened... The fence is also not adjustable, so unless you use a block of wood you will never get a parallel cut. The fence itself is a lightweight plastic 'protractor' which will wear quickly. Item not to recommended and not worth the price... a shame

Great little saw for glass and restoration projects.

Great saw for cutting all types of glass when using the diamond blade, I use the saw for stained glass and glass fusing projects,I have cut all sorts of difficult shapes , many shapes would be almost impossible without this saw.
Also great for restoration of bottles and ceramics as its easy to make direct cuts through bottles etc,

Excellent for model engineering

I use my Proxxon for many jobs with my model engineering. The metal cutting blades are both durable and effective. Changing blades is easy enough, my only reason to drop a star is its price. But quality does cost. Had mine for several years and its still going well
