Great for the money

I use my drill presses all the time. One is very accurate when used in conjunction with the compound table that I have permanently screwed in place (holes already provided) to ensure rigidity and precision. If I want to make a few quick holes I use a vice on my other press, not the cheap and cheerful, entry level MS4 though, I upgraded to the next in the Proxxon range. All good I reckon..

Proxxon MS4 vice does not secure properly to either the table or the fence bar

Terribly disappointed with this; my first purchase from Axminster. I asked about the method of securing the vice to the fence before ordering as I couldn't see how lateral movement on the fence was prevented - it seemed to just sit there; it does!

The fence itself is far from a precision fit and occasionally the knurled bolt head jambs. If you want to do some precision work you'll need the Proxxon compound table, another £85 and we're not sure - Axminster and myself - whether the MS4 vice will attach to the table even though it's sold as an accessory to the table. All very confusing.

This can't be a precision tool if the vice, holding the work piece can't be secured in relation to the drill - can it? Then, as mentioned by 'Larry' it's not sold as a precision tool is it. Things have clearly not progressed in the last six years so what is the point of spending time on writing reviews?

Axminster are addressing these queries with Proxxon in fact, considering this is a fairly minor purchase, Axminster have been very good.

Proxxon MICROMOT MB 140/S Drill Stand

I notice the words "precision" and "accurate" are missing from the description. Quite right too.
Same applies to the Machine Vice.
Not a good example of German engineering.
