Good Product

Axminster Planer Blades is very powerful and is capable of handling any wood that you can feed it whether it is walnut, oak, or any exotic timber.

Good but can be even better

These come installed in the AW106PT and worked very well for me. I have no quibbles about how long they stayed sharp either, but eventually I need to have them refreshed. This is not really a diy job unless you have the right (and expensive) tools, so I sent them to a sharpening service which cost £15 inc postage. This is well worth spending as they came back sharper and more accurately ground than when new. I also own a set of the more expensive TCT blades, which were not a great success as they did not produce the same quality of finish as the HSS blades. Perhaps the TCT blades can be improved by better grinding, but that also comes at a much higher price.

Great blades

Having a second set of blades ready to replace worn ones is a good idea allowing for continued use of the planer without having to stop to resharpen blades. You can resharpen the worn ones when you have time.

good overall

good quality knife blades, although will start to chip quite quick on harder woods.
