Protect yourself from spoof emails

    • UPDATE: We can now confirm the existence of a spoof order despatch notification email with attached malware falsely purporting to come from Axminster Tools & Machinery. Detailed information can be found here and here.

It has come to our attention that fraudulent and malicious emails alleging to be from or associated with Axminster Tools & Machinery are in circulation. The most recent such email is intentionally made to look like our existing order despatch notification and contains an attachment in the DOCM file format we believe to be infected with malware. A genuine order despatch notification email will be received for an order you have knowingly placed and will only ever contain an attachment in the PDF file format. If you receive an email from Axminster Tools & Machinery with an attachment of any file type other than PDF this should be regarded as malicious and it should be deleted immediately.

Axminster Tools & Machinery is urgently working to investigate the reports we have been getting from people who have received such emails. We also understand that some recipients, especially those who have never purchased from us, may think that Axminster Tools & Machinery is employing dishonest methods to direct people to our website or is purposefully intending to share malware. For the avoidance of doubt, Axminster Tools & Machinery has no involvement at all with the sending of those emails.

We advise anyone whose email address has received an email from us to be cautious of clicking any links or opening attachments that you are not expecting, or which are out of character with what you would expect. For best protection against the general risk of virus, malware and/or spyware infection from any source on the internet, we recommend you install and keep up to date the latest anti-virus software.
