A detailed look at the features and benefits of a wide range of high-end, precision hand tools including leading international brands Veritas and Lie-Nielsen. During this demonstration, we'll look at comparable planes, chisels and saws from these brands and explain some of their similarities - and some of their differences. We'll also share some practical advice on set-up to ensure you get the best performance from these trusted hand tools. There'll be plenty of time to get 'hands on' yourself, so come along for what promises to be a rewarding few hours with our skilled store demonstrators.
Free Woodturning Demonstration
David Stratton and Mike Spaven are both accomplished demonstrators from the Surrey Association of Woodturners with many years of woodturning experience and knowledge between them. They will both be joining us in-store, using the AT406 Lathe, to demonstrate two different projects for you to try at home.
David will be turning snowmen with crystal tummies and lights, a simple turn technique but very effective and with limitless opportunities. Mike will be demonstrating the art of turning natural edge bowls.
Whether you're new to turning or looking for inspiration for a new project, this is a fantastic opportunity to talk to experienced craftsmen.
Anna-Marie is a master of small scale turning, she predominantly uses small offcuts, destined for the bin, to create beautiful pieces of jewellery and small trinkets. Turning on this scale is a challenge in itself but one that Anna has taken delight in perfecting.
During this demonstration, Anna adds extra complexity to her miniature projects by using segmented blanks. Segmented turning, which is when several pieces of wood are glued together before being turned, creates unique patterns and stunning end results - so come along and be inspired to challenge yourself.
Free Woodworking Demonstration
Join us for our very first Resin demonstration - an exciting opportunity for beginners looking to add an extra element within their woodwork. Using EcoPoxy (a natural bio-based product) and, the newly stocked, Lizard casting moulds, Tom Stokes will show you how to create beautiful wood and resin blanks.

Woodturning and Finishes Demonstration
Join us as tutor and demonstrator, Martin Saban-Smith RPT returns to our stores to share more of his unique woodturning creativity. Martin's enthusiasm, technical ability and artistic finishing has attracted an impressive following on social media and he promises an entertaining and informative demonstration. His relaxed presentation style has been enjoyed by hundreds of turners in the UK, Ireland, Scotland and the USA. Martin is the manufacturer and owner of the Hampshire Sheen range of finishing waxes and oils and the Intrinsic Collection dyes which will be used during his demonstration.
