We have a fantastic weekend planned for those interested in carving - the British Woodcarvers Association (South Wales Region) will be in our Cardiff store on both Saturday and Sunday from 10:00-16:00.
They will cover all aspects of woodcarving and demonstrate techniques suitable for all levels of carver, from the beginner to the professional.
Using Flexcut tools to carve, Mirka Abranet to finish and many other products, the British Woodcarvers will show you just what can be achieved. With each carver having over 20 years of carving experience, these demonstrations are sure to inspire!

Our second ‘Take Home’ Christmas Project will introduce children to the delicate art of scroll sawing as they make an eye-catching decoration for the Christmas tree or a feature for a festive table. With hands-on guidance from our store experts, children will learn to cut from a template to produce their tree, sand to a smooth finish and then decorate with paints and glitter finishes to provide a personal sparkle to their projects. We’re sure these ‘Take Home’ trees will inspire further creativity at home - and help occupy restless hands until those Christmas presents are opened!

EuroSkills Competitor Christopher Caine made up a team of 22 women and men that represented the UK against peers from across the continent. They collectively placed the UK ninth place of 27 Countries. Chris won a Medallion in the Joinery section and has qualified for the next stage of the competition.

Our in-store expert Gavin will be demonstrating the art of pyrography, showing you everything you need to know to get started in this rewarding and enjoyable hobby. Gavin will demonstrate how to use the various accessories available and techniques required to make the most of this creative art. One thing is certain, you don't need a large workshop to enjoy this hobby - a small space or even the kitchen table will be adequate.
This is an interactive workshop, so you will be encouraged to have a go and your welcome to take your creations home.
Several woodturning clubs will be in-store, going head-to-head in competition with each other. Turners from each club will be tasked with turning a Goblet or Bud Vase in 45 minutes. The pieces will be judged and a prize awarded - who will win this year!?
The clubs will also display some of the best examples of their work. So if you’ve always wanted to find out more about woodturning or would like to join a club, this is the perfect opportunity to have all your questions answered and see a wonderful display of talent!
