Turning Tuesdays

This is your chance to see and talk about everything and anything woodturning, on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month between 10am and 4pm.

A member of the team will be available to talk turning, demonstrate and help with any queries or questions as well as giving you the chance to get hands on and have a go.

Whether you're a novice or experienced carver or simply interested in starting a new hobby, why not come along to our Carving Club? These free informal sessions provide an opportunity to try new tools and learn new techniques with helpful advice and guidance from other members and from the store team.

We meet every second Thursday between 1pm and 4pm and all materials and tools are provided. Plus there's free tea and coffee! We look forward to welcoming you soon.

Do you have an interest in Woodturning? Then come along to one our Tuesday Turners sessions with Les Alexander and Malcolm Cleaver. The group meet every 2nd & 4th Tuesday of the month and between them, they have a wide range of experience and expertise.
This week - one of the groups main demonstrators, Les, will be showing you how to cut threads on the lathe - all ability levels will be met with a welcoming smile.

Chris Fisher, also known as the Blind Woodturner since he lost his sight in 2008, will be in-store covering lathes, chucks, jaws and turning tools.

You will be inspired by Chris as he shares his passion for woodturning. Chris constantly challenges himself, exceeding all expectations and demonstrating how seemingly insurmountable obstacles can be overcome through tenacity and self-belief.

Join us for a demonstration not to be missed as Chris puts his unique spin on the craft of woodturning.

Woodturning and Finishes WIth Hampshire Sheen Creator Martin Saban-Smith - High Wycombe Store

Nationally recognised and RPT accredited woodturner, tutor and demonstrator, Martin Saban-Smith is in-store to provide an entertaining and varied showcase of his creative talents. Martin, who is also the creator and manufacturer of Hampshire Sheen wax and oil finishes, will demonstrate a variety of woodturning techniques and provide a practical guide to using texturing and colouring to enhance and personalise your next woodturning project.

This is a rare chance to see one of the UK’s most skilled and creative woodturners ‘up close and personal’ - see you in store!

High Wycombe Store - Miniature Furniture Model Making With John Macaulay

John Macaulay is a 1/12 scale Miniature Furniture maker. Using a range of Proxxon machines he produces intricate furniture, which have the joinery features you would expect to see on a full-scale piece, such as fielded panels, mortice and tenon. John is a master of his craft and his work speaks for itself, last year he was invited to display at the Kensington Dolls House Festival. He is currently working on a scaled replica of a Charles Rennie Mackintosh washstand with stained glass splashback.

This is a fantastic chance to see some examples of John's work, as he demonstrates the range of Proxxon Machinery. He will also be available to answer questions and help you with any projects of your own.
