High Wycombe - Woodturning Boxes With Jason Breach

Free Woodturning Demonstration

Our very own Skill Centre tutor Jason Breach will be in-store showing how to turn boxes on the lathe.

The techniques involved, from a simple turned wooden box through to more advanced shapes, will be explained and demonstrated to provide a solid foundation for you to continue the ideas on your own lathe.

The day will cover the selection of materials which are suitable for your wooden box, how best to cut and prepare these, different ways of mounting them on the lathe and how to get the best from a potentially expensive resource. You will also be refreshed on safe and effective use of a range of different tools, to cut and shape the workpiece into the desired form and finally how to sand and polish to a professional standard. During the day Jason would be happy to demosntrate other projects including how to turn bowls, bottle stoppers and Epoxy resin.

This is a unique opportunity to learn from an experienced and skilled tutor, absolutely FREE!

During the session, our store supervisors will guide budding crafters through each step to make a bespoke decoration to take home. This will include simple saw cuts, drilling holes and using a scroll saw to make the components, before decorating with pyrography and assembling with garden twine. We'll suggest some special paints to add any finishing touches at home.

Please book early to avoid disappointment as only limited spaces are available. The free event is open to children between ages 7-14 who must be accompanied by a parent for the duration of the workshop.
