An all-new range of Craft machines is being introduced by Axminster Tools & Machinery to appeal to woodworking enthusiasts looking for performance and features which exceed an entry-level machine. You’ll be able to get hands-on with the first of these machines - including lathes, drill presses and compressors - at a national demonstration day hosted by all stores.

After losing his sight, Chris Fisher, also known as The Blind Woodturner, started commercial woodturning in 2008 and today demonstrates to enthusiasts around the UK.
You will be inspired by Chris as he shares his passion for woodturning. He constantly challenges himself, exceeding all expectations and demonstrating how seemingly insurmountable obstacles can be overcome through tenacity and self-belief.
Chris has attracted the attention of various publications and was recently interviewed by the BBC. So come along and meet Axminsters turner in residence and see how Chris puts his unique spin on the craft of woodturning.
Be afraid. Be very afraid - your little monsters might soon be wanting you to help them with some Halloween projects - never fear, our Axminster stores are ready to help with a special Halloween Decorations. Our frighteningly friendly staff are ready to share a selection of creepy creative ideas which will keep your monsters amused for a couple of hours. We’ll use a few simple tools, provide materials and terrifying templates to make hair-raising halloween bats, cats and ghosts (for details of the projects to be made please contact your local store). This is a FREE event with no tricks, so it’ll be all treat!
All monsters, zombies and children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian - with a maximum of two per adult. Children must be aged between 7 and 14 years. Numbers are strictly limited so please, register through Eventbrite, as early as possible to avoid disappointment (each participating child must be registered through Eventbrite).

We are pleased to welcome Coombe Abbey Woodturners into the store, to share their passion for turning. They are a friendly club of 140 or so members, based in the Coventry area.
Throughout the day a number of club members will turn various projects, offering hints and tips along the way. The members are "always willing to exchange ideas and advice on all woodturning topics from obtaining wood and other supplies, advising on equipment and tools, to improving turning techniques" - so this day is ideal for beginners!
We are pleased to have furniture maker Matt Estlea demonstrating a number of hand tools from Lie Nielsen, Veritas as well as our Japanese range. Matt had 5 years tuition at Rycotewood Furniture Centre, followed by 4 years experience working in our Basingstoke store. Although he still works for Axminster at the weekends during the week he can be found creating and sharing his projects on his popular YouTube channel.
During the day Matt will demonstrate a number of techniques covering his favourite tools, dovetails and sharpening. Matt's tutorials are always fun and informative so the day will be enriching for both the beginner and the experienced woodworker!
