In Detail

An excellent assortment of 1,000 pocket hole screws all neatly contained in a storage case.

All UJK pocket hole screws use Torx drive heads, chosen to provide ease of use and the best grip possible. The washer head style provides the largest amount of surface area to seat firmly in the bottom of the pocket, especially for plywood or pine and ensures that the screw is not overdriven. Silver zinc plated steel (waxed).

The Fine thread screw suits hardwood such as oak, maple, walnut and cherry. The Coarse thread screw provides greater holding power for plywood, MDF, melamine and pine. These hardened screws cut their own thread and are threaded right up to the washer head giving the maximum grab on the screw. The largest washer size (9.7mm) has been used, meaning there is no need to drive the screw through the wood. Use 25mm screws to join 13mm to 19mm thick timber, 32mm screws to join 19mm, 38mm screws to join 22mm to 32mm, 50mm for 32mm to 35mm timber and 62mm long screws to join 38mm thick workpieces. Suitable for use with pocket hole jigs including Kreg®.

How can you knock off stars for features of a screw!!!

The screws themselves are great. Not one dud in a thousand. How do I know? I've picked them up and sorted them twice! The box lid design means if you don't ensure the catches are secured before picking it up they all fall out. After the first time I thought "that's never going to happen again" and got into the habit of pointing one finger to hold the lid when I grab the handle. That's fine until you unwittingly pass the box to a colleague and let go of the handle. I cried the second time. It takes 2 to 3 evenings to sort them out again! There are boxes where the lid incorporates part of the handle so it doesn't fly open when you lift it.

Handy pack

Great to have a variety of sizes to hand. Large jobs you would buy a box of one size. Very handy to have in stock

You want to know what they forgot to say

You will want to know:
Do these have a cutting edge start? YES
Are these better than Trend? YES
Are the Torx heads better than square? YES
Is the metal of these screws very hard? YES
Which should I buy, 30mm x 3.5 or 30mm x 3.8?
I got 100 of each. I found that fixing to edge of mdf tiny cracks would appear 1mm earlier using 3.8, otherwise not a big difference. 3.5 seem adequate strength, both screw well into oak. 3.8 give a marginally stronger fix to oak but not a lot between them using a simple claw hammer extraction test. There is a slightly stronger fix to the screw head on the 3.8 but both are stronger than the fix to the wood, certainly for the 30mm length screws which will not be penetrating further than I would guess 15mm max. I recommend these screws. Make sure you also get a 150mm long torx driver, comes as a twinpack. UJK also do 4.0 gauge but I haven't tried those yet.
