Sharing the same, advanced materials as the Veritas dovetail and carcass saws, these Gent’s saws have 200mm long high-carbon steel blades just 0.4mm thick with 0.08mm of teeth set per side. The 20tpi ripsaw has teeth with a 14" rake angle and a 60° included angle. The teeth on the 22tpi crosscut saw have a rake angle of 15°, an included angle of 60° and alternating 15° bevel angles so that they sever rather than tear wood fibres. Both saws have a cut depth of 41mm. For strength and rigidity, the glass and stainless steel-filled polymer spine is moulded over the blade and handle stud. A brass nut secures the Bubinga handle to the blade. Made in Canada.

Good Veritas kitI added this to my set because I wanted a finer crosscut saw - the Veritas rip-tooth 20tpi Dovetail Saw is a beautiful bit of kit and I wanted something like it in a crosscut. This saw doesn't disappoint - starts easily, cuts very cleanly and the back has enough weight to aid its passage so you don't have to exert downward pressure. It would have been a 5-star review had it had a tenon- rather than a gent's-saw handle - that makes it much easier to sense the angle of cut for precise work. But that's the only complaint I can make - just like the other Veritas saws, it's a beauty.
