In Detail

Tru-Grind Cubic Boron Nitride(CBN) grinding wheels are a revelation for the sharpening of HSS turning tools. CBN abrasive is a similar product to synthetic industrial diamonds, but a CBN wheel is far better suited for sharpening high speed steels and will withstand the friction from grinding with much less heat produced than with a diamond wheel. They produce hardly any sparks, cut quickly and efficiently and will last for many years. Plus, because it will withstand the friction the wheel doesn't wear and therefore the jig will not need to be reset. No dressing is required and they leave a nice fine and even sharp edge.

Two sizes are available, both 180 grit: 150mm x 25mm x 12.7mm bore or 150 x 40mm x 15mm bore (Creusen)

Due to the weight of the wheel, these should be used on grinders with motors of 375W or above.

Very good piece of kit.

This was the only 6" wheel I could find at this price. I would have liked the one which has sharpening on part of the side, but it was not on offer for this size. I fitted it to my grindstone yesterday and sharpened all my turning chisels. So far I am very impressed as the results are great with a very sharp tool. Service was very quick (next day courier) and wheel packed well. This was a replacement for my white Aluminium Oxide Wheel and it is in my opinion much better. With no need to face this either that is a bonus. So far very happy.

Super quality wheel

I don't know anything of it's durability, since i also just bought and used it. But according to the manufacturer it should last for many years.
Once you unpack the wheel, which comes in a nice box, you can immediately see and feel that it's a very high quality wheel.
Sharpening of my woodturning chisels goes much smoother then with the standard cruesen 120 grid wheel, and as mentioned above with almost no pressure to apply, and with a razor sharp result. To polish i use the Flexcut slipstrop pad, this seems to work really well.
The only slight issue i found, is that it seems to produce a little more noise then the standard white wheel, when sharpening. Other then that it's a delight to use this wheel, i'm very happy i bought it.

super tool. but it would be nice to be able to buy a finer grit as it is difficult to get a polished bevel with a 180 grit

Just bought a cbn grinding wheel. It's a game changer, little or no pressure applied, impressive removal rate, and no blueing - hugely better than my white wheel. I ground all my chisels until the edges wired over, at which point my white wheel would have blued my tools unless I was extremely cautious , the cbn wheel barely heated the tools. It will interesting to see whether the cutting sharpness is maintained over time and the cool cutting performance is maintained. I was beginning to consider getting a wet grinder but not now. The cut is relatively coarse, but as I always finish the final bevel by hand on a bench stone this is not an issue for me. The other issue is the wheel is for machines with 15mm shafts, my grinders have 1/2 inch and 16 mm shafts respectively, so I needed to improvise some bushes . I wonder if 15 mm shafts are common or is it just Creusen. Still sorting out bushing was well worth it, can't enthuse enough.
